Today almost all voices are saying that the wheel has been put in motion and it’s hard to believe that the humanity could stop his growth and progress.
However there are a few scientists that say exactly the opposite: the Earth has entered a new Glaciation Era and the temperature will continue to drop and we might face in a few hundred years real polar winters at New York latitude.
Whether this is true or false only the future can tell this.
