In the past few years, El Cajon’s population has grown to 95,000, due to affordable El Cajon homes and the convenient location. Many that have moved here enjoy the warmer climate compared to the mildler climate of the beach cities.

The neighborhoods are nicely organized, many with established mid century homes with well maintained streets and yards. Swimming pools are abundant in this city due to the all year mild weather.
El Cajon is Just a stone’s throw from the ocean and all the attractions of the county plus there is a large casino called Sycuan Casino and Resort which has besides the fun of the gaming has a beautiful golf course and this is right in the city. The warm year-round whether conditions makes it possible for great outdoor sports and activities.
This have certainly changed in this part of San Diego from farming and ranching. The valley seemed perfect for the cattle-ranches, as the hills were a barrier for the strays and the watershed would keep the pastures green.After years of cattle ranching, lemon groves were planted in a new area called LA Mesa Springs, which later became La Mesa . Close by are Lakeside which offers a gaming-casino and the rural area of Santee. Barona not only offers a beautiful hotel but great dining along with other resort amenities. The rural community of Alpine is east of the city. Going east on Highway 8 is the cutoff to Viejas Casino and their retail Outlet.
